Although we originated as a processor of fluoropolymer products, modern Balfor works with a wide range of plastic products and is regularly taking on new projects as well as new materials. Our molding and CNC-controlled machining equipment, in conjunction with computer-controlled comparators and coordinate measurement systems, assure the highest quality finished product. With our production and specialty machining processes backed by a fully furnished machine shop, you will be surprised by what we can handle.
Primarily we work with such fluoroplastics as Teflon® (PTFE), Kel-F, FEP, PFA and Hostaflon TFM® (modified polymers of PTFE). However, we also machine items from almost any plastic, among them Nylon, UHMWP, Phenolic, Nylatron, Delrin, and Polypropylene. Should you require a non-stock material we will track down exactly what you need.
Our Balforon™ product line was developed to meet the needs of applications where traditional PTFE or modified compounds were not sufficient. The Chemical Process Industry responds to the demand for lower material costs and increased productivity by using products made of PTFE. The unexcelled combination of chemical inertness, non-corrosive properties, durability and availability makes PTFE top-rated for the CPI. Products made of PTFE can be used in almost any type of corrosive service, are lower in cost, and have more reliable delivery schedules than their metal product counterparts, saving hours of downtime.
Our PTFE perforated plates assure a proper and even distribution of chemicals descending within the chemical tower they are installed in. These plates will not contaminate the product in any way, and will not allow chemical build-up which could lead to clogged holes. Balfor will manufacture any pattern to your exact specifications. The hole size and pattern is designed to accommodate your specific filtering or mixing application. Perforated plates are available up to sixty inches in diameter, and up to two inches thick.
Baffle plates made of PTFE are also available to take the place of their metal counterparts. Balfor manufactures a full line of support bushings from PTFE and filled materials as well.
Balfor’s line of soot blower packings is specifically designed to handle the high temperatures and pressures associated with equipment used in the removal of soot buildup in the fuel and power generation industries. These parts can be found in equipment used in the pulp and paper, sewage, chemical, and marine industries.
Balfor’s soot blower design uses a different seating method for the packing rings from conventional v-ring packings. This design provided excellent sealing on the boiler lance tubes utilizing material that has an extremely low coefficient of friction and high wear resistance. These sets are generally molded from proprietary materials and also provide excellent resistance to creep at elevated temperatures up to 500*F. Male and female adaptors are designed to be heavier than standard to bolster the set during service at high pressure.
Balfor has the ability to modify set stack heights and configurations in response to customer depth and application features. Sets can be supplied either solid or split, depending on installation options. In cases where special dimensions are required, we have the capability to machine sets to size or produce new tooling for molded parts in-house.
